...Climate Summary for May, 2023...

The month of May was drier than normal across most of Middle
Tennessee, with temperatures that stayed close to monthly
normals.

In Nashville, the average temperature was 70.0 degrees, which was
seven-tenths of a degree above normal. The average high
temperature was 80.5 degrees and the average low temperature was
59.5 degrees. The highest temperature was 90 degrees on the 15th.
The lowest temperature was 42 degrees on the 4th.

Rainfall for May totaled 4.51 inches, which was 0.51 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.30 inches on the 7th
and into the 8th. However, just 0.01 inches occurred after the
20th of the month. Overall, there were 10 days with measurable
rainfall, and one day with an inch or more. There were 5 days with
thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 57 mph on the 7th.

In Clarksville, the average temperature was 68.9 degrees, which
was 1.6 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was
79.8 degrees and the average low temperature was 57.9 degrees.
The highest temperature was 90 degrees on the 14th. The lowest
temperature was 40 degrees on the 4th.

Rainfall for May totaled 3.50 inches, which was 1.40 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 0.85 inches on the 20th.
There were 10 days with measurable rainfall, but none after the
20th, and 9 days with thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 44 mph on the 15th.

In Crossville, the average temperature was 62.5 degrees, which
was seven-tenths of a degree below normal. The average high
temperature was 72.7 degrees and the average low temperature was
52.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 80 degrees on the 16th.
The lowest temperature was 34 degrees on the 4th.

Rainfall for May totaled 3.39 inches, which was 1.79 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.49 inches on the 7th
and into the 8th. However, just 0.16 inches occurred after the
20th of the month. Overall, there were 12 days with measurable
rainfall, and one day with an inch or more. There were 3 days
with thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 43 mph on the 1st.

Finally, the Middle Tennessee outlook for the month of June calls
for temperatures and rainfall to stay close to climatological
normals.
