Areas affected...Southeast TN into northeast AL and north GA

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 525...

Valid 202039Z - 202215Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 525
continues.

SUMMARY...Some damaging-wind threat may continue into early evening,
and eventually spread south of WW 525.

DISCUSSION...Convection has notably grown in coverage across
southeast TN and far north GA over the last 1-2 hours. An earlier
damage-producing bowing segment has become embedded within the
larger area of convection, but a moderately strong cold pool is
noted in surface observations in its wake, with a rear-inflow jet
noted in recent VWPs from KHPX and KOHX. Deep-layer shear decreases
with southward extent, but with the downstream environment being
quite warm/moist and moderately buoyant, some threat for damaging
gusts will likely continue southeastward and potentially last into
early evening. Local watch expansion may eventually be considered
depending on how far south the threat spreads with time.
