Areas affected...Eastern Tennessee into far western North Carolina

Concerning...Tornado Watch 600...

Valid 071736Z - 071930Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 600 continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for tornadoes and severe/damaging winds will
continue in eastern Tennessee into far western North Carolina.

DISCUSSION...Convection continues in eastern Tennessee this
afternoon. The most organized portion of this activity is oriented
roughly north-south from Crossville to north of Chattanooga. This
linear segment shows strong velocities in the lowest 2 km on KOHX
radar. Additional storms are trying to develop east of this activity
as well. The environment will continue to support severe/damaging
wind gusts as well as isolated large hail. The threat for tornadoes
will also continue, perhaps mostly with line-embedded circulations.
The 850 mb winds are expected to increase later today as the
mid-level jet pivots through the region. This should act to increase
what are currently modestly enlarged hodographs per area VAD data.
