...Climate Summary for March, 2023...

March, 2023 was a rather turbulent month with a large variation in
temperatures, variable rainfall totals across the mid state, and
it was quite windy, as well.

In Nashville, the average temperature for March was 52.5 degrees,
which was 1 degree above normal. The average high temperature was
63.5 degrees and the average low temperature was 41.5 degrees. The
highest temperature was 80 degrees on the 6th and the lowest
temperature was 21 degrees on the 20th. There were 6 days when the
temperature dropped to freezing or below.

Rainfall added up to 3.34 inches, which was 1.18 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 0.75 inches spanning the
24th and 25th. There were 12 days with measurable rainfall. There
was also a trace of snow. And there were 4 days with
thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 65 mph on the 3rd. There was also a 52
mph gust on the 24th and a 47 mph gust on the 31st.

In Clarksville, the average temperature for March was 50.3
degrees, which was 1.4 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 61.5 degrees and the average low temperature was
39.1 degrees. The highest temperature was 81 degrees on the 6th
and the lowest temperature was 20 degrees on the 20th. There were
8 days when the temperature dropped to freezing or below.

Rainfall added up to 6.93 inches, which was 2.61 inches above
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.04 inches on the
24th. There were 12 days with measurable rainfall and 3 days with
an inch or more. And there were 5 days with thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 80 mph on the 3rd. There was also a 49
mph gust on the 24th, a 44 mph gust on the 27th and a 42 mph gust
on the 31st.

In Crossville, the average temperature for March was 47.5
degrees, which was 1.5 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 58.7 degrees and the average low temperature was
36.4 degrees. The highest temperature was 76 degrees on the 23rd
and the lowest temperature was 14 degrees on the 20th. There were
11 days when the temperature dropped to freezing or below.

Rainfall added up to 5.25 inches, which was 0.19 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.44 inches spanning
the 1st and 2nd. There were 13 days with measurable rainfall. And
there were 7 days with thunderstorms.

The fastest wind gust was 57 mph on the 3rd. There was also a 43
mph gust on the 24th and a 44 mph gust on the 25th.

The April outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate Prediction
Center favors above normal temperatures and above normal rainfall.
