...Climate Summary for August, 2022...

The month of August was fairly typical across Middle Tennessee for
temperatures, but was also wetter than normal. August was
significantly cooler than July, and even slightly cooler than
June.

In Nashville, the average temperature during August was 80.0
degrees, which was three-tenths of a degree above normal. The
average high temperature was 89.6 degrees and the average low
temperature was 70.4 degrees. The highest temperature was 95
degrees on the 2nd and 28th, and the lowest temperature was 63
degrees on the 13th and 14th. There were 15 days on which the
temperature reached 90 degrees or better.

Rainfall for the month added up to 3.99 inches, which was two-
tenths of an inch above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was
1.51 inches on the 6th and 7th. There were 10 days with measurable
rainfall. There were also 10 days with thunderstorms.

The highest wind gust was 44 mph on the 7th.

In Clarksville, the average temperature during August was 78.7
degrees, which was 1.3 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 88.9 degrees and the average low temperature was
68.5 degrees. The highest temperature was 94 degrees on the 27th
and 28th, and the lowest temperature was 61 degrees on the 13th.
There were 15 days on which the temperature reached 90 degrees or
better.

Rainfall for the month added up to 4.21 inches, which was 1.31
inches above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.53
inches on the 4th and 5th. There were 12 days with measurable
rainfall. There were 11 days with thunderstorms.

The highest wind gust was 42 mph on the 2nd.

In Crossville, the average temperature during August was 72.5
degrees, which was four-tenths of a degree below normal. The
average high temperature was 81.4 degrees and the average low
temperature was 63.7 degrees. The highest temperature was 87
degrees on the 3rd, and the lowest temperature was 57 degrees on
the 13th.

Rainfall for the month added up to 5.49 inches, which was 1.88
inches above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.51
inches on the 20th and 21st. There were 12 days with measurable
rainfall. There were also 12 days with thunderstorms.

The highest wind gust was 46 mph on the 20th.

Finally, the September outlook for Middle Tennessee from the
Climate Prediction Center calls for near normal temperatures and
near normal precipitation.
