Areas affected...much of Alabama

Concerning...Tornado Watch 556...

Valid 252023Z - 252230Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 556 continues.

SUMMARY...A conditional risk of isolated severe gusts or a brief
tornado continues.

DISCUSSION...A line of storms continues to push east along a cold
front, now unbroken from near the AL/TN border southward to TCL. The
instability plume ahead of these storms remains narrow, with
dewpoints dropping to 60 F a few counties east. Shear remains quite
strong, and will conditionally favor rotation within the stronger
storms.

Farther south, a relatively wider zone of instability continues to
develop, with upper 60s F dewpoints and temperatures near 80 F from
the FL Panhandle into parts of southern AL. While shear is weaker in
this area, it remains sufficient to produce severe storms given
favorable deep-layer shear orientation to the front, and expanding
warm sector. This area is currently south of the watch but will be
monitored throughout the afternoon and into this evening.
