...Climate Summary for October, 2022...

October, 2022 was cooler and drier than normal across Middle
Tennessee. Most of the mid state is now experiencing at least a
moderate drought following a relatively dry autumn season thus
far.

In Nashville, the average temperature for October was 60.6
degrees, which was 1.1 degrees below normal. The average high
temperature was 73.3 degrees and the average low temperature was
48.0 degrees. The highest observed temperature was 85 degrees on
the 6th and the lowest observed temperature was 33 degrees on the
20th.

The monthly rainfall total was 1.38 inches, which was 1.98 inches
below normal. The greatest 24 hour rainfall was 0.51 inches on the
25th. There were 7 days with measurable rainfall, and just two
days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 38 mph on the
12th and 25th.

In Clarksville, the average temperature for October was 59.1
degrees, which was two tenths of a degree below normal. The
average high temperature was 73.3 degrees and the average low
temperature was 44.9 degrees. The highest observed temperature
was 86 degrees on the 12th and the lowest observed temperature
was 30 degrees on the 20th. There were two days when the
temperature dropped to 32 degrees or below.

The monthly rainfall total was 2.26 inches, which was 1.87 inches
below normal. The greatest 24 hour rainfall was 1.11 inches on
the 29th and 30th. There were 5 days with measurable rainfall,
and just one day with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 42
mph on the 25th.

In Crossville, the average temperature for October was 53.0
degrees, which was 3.4 degrees below normal. The average high
temperature was 65.1 degrees and the average low temperature was
40.9 degrees. The highest observed temperature was 74 degrees on
the 7th and 15th and the lowest observed temperature was 26
degrees on the 20th. There were seven days when the temperature
dropped to 32 degrees or below.

The monthly rainfall total was 1.18 inches, which was 1.96 inches
below normal. The greatest 24 hour rainfall was 0.47 inches on
the 12th. There were 5 days with measurable rainfall, and just
one day with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 37 mph on
the 12th.

The November outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate
Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and below
normal rainfall.
