May, 2022 was warmer and drier than normal. But Middle Tennessee
still enjoys a rainfall surplus through the first 5 months of
2022.

In Nashville, the average temperature during May was 72.1 degrees,
which was 2.8 degrees above normal. The average high temperature
was 83.1 degrees and the average low temperature was 61.1 degrees.
The highest temperature in May was 94 degrees on the 19th. The
lowest temperature was 50 degrees on the 8th. There were 8 days
during the month when the temperature reached 90 degrees or
higher.

Rainfall for May totaled 3.55 inches, which was 1.47 inches below
normal. The greatest rainfall in 24 hours was 1.37 inches spanning
the 24th and 25th. There were 11 days with measurable rainfall.
However, there was also a stretch of days from the 8th through the
20th during which there was only one day of rain.

There were 9 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 46
mph on the 6th and the 24th. There were 5 additional days when the
wind gusted to at least 40 mph.

In Clarksville, the average temperature during May was 70.4
degrees, which was 3.1 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 81.0 degrees and the average low temperature was

The June outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate Prediction
Center calls for normal to above normal temperatures and normal
rainfall.
