...The month of July was much warmer than normal with variable
rainfall totals...

July, 2022 was second-hottest July on record in Nashville, and
the 12th hottest on record in Crossville. Also it was the 8th
wettest July on record in Nashville, and the 7th wettest on record
in Crossville. However, other parts of Middle Tennessee
experienced abnormally dry conditions, but the excessive heat
affected everyone.

In Nashville, the average temperature for July was 83.9 degrees.
That's 3.2 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was
93.7 degrees and the average low temperature was 74.1 degrees. The
highest temperature was 99 degrees on the 8th and the 20th, and
the lowest temperature was 67 degrees on the 14th. There were 27
days when the temperature reached 90 degrees or greater.

Rainfall for the month totaled 7.87 inches. This was 3.71 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.34 inches on the
9th. There were 13 days with measurable rainfall, and two days
with an inch or more. There were 12 days with thunderstorms. The
fastest wind gust was 40 mph on the 9th.

In Clarksville, the average temperature for July was 83.0
degrees. That's 4.8 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 93.8 degrees and the average low temperature was
72.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 102 degrees on the 22nd,
and the lowest temperature was 64 degrees on the 14th and 22nd.
There were 26 days when the temperature reached 90 or greater, and
7 days when the temperature reached triple digits.

Rainfall for the month totaled 4.36 inches. This was 0.62 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.06 inches on
the 25th and into the 26th. There were 12 days with measurable
rainfall and 10 days with thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was
45 mph on the 7th.

In Crossville, the average temperature for July was 75.9 degrees.
That's 2.1 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was
84.6 degrees and the average low temperature was 67.1 degrees.
The highest temperature was 90 degrees on the 8th and the 23rd,
and the lowest temperature was 59 degrees on the 14th.

Rainfall for the month totaled 8.47 inches. This was 3.01 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.36 inches on
the 7th. There were 15 days with measurable rainfall, and three
days with an inch or more. There were 13 days with thunderstorms.
The fastest wind gust was 49 mph on the 18th.

The August outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate
Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and around
normal rainfall.
