...Climate Summary for September...

September was a little cooler than normal and dry for much of the
month. The first two weeks and the final week of the month were
largely rain-free. The bulk of the month's rainfall occurred
during the 3rd week.

In Nashville, the average temperature for September was 72.6
degrees, which was half-a-degree below normal. The average high
temperature was 82.7 degrees and the average low temperature was
62.4 degrees. The highest temperature was 91 degrees on the 13th
and 14th and the lowest temperature was 49 degrees on the 24th.

Rainfall added up to 4.47 inches, which was 0.67 inches above
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.57 inches on the 20th.
There were 10 days with measurable rainfall, and 8 of those days
occurred between the 14th and 22nd. There were 3 days with
thunderstorms and the fastest wind gust was 32 mph on the 22nd.

In Clarksville, the average temperature for September was 69.8
degrees, which was 0.8 degrees below normal. The average high
temperature was 80.4 degrees and the average low temperature was
59.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 88 degrees on the 13th
and 14th and the lowest temperature was 45 degrees on the 26th.

Rainfall added up to 2.77 inches, which was 0.77 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 0.87 inches on the
17th. There were 10 days with measurable rainfall and 4 days with
thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 37 mph on the 22nd.

In Crossville, the average temperature for September was 66.2
degrees, which was 0.8 degrees below normal. The average high
temperature was 75.9 degrees and the average low temperature was
56.5 degrees. The highest temperature was 83 degrees on the 13th
and 14th and the lowest temperature was 41 degrees on the 24th.

Rainfall added up to 3.42 inches, which was 0.72 inches below
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.15 inches on the
18th. There were 7 days with measurable rainfall and 1 day with
thunderstorms. The fastest wind gust was 32 mph on the 22nd.

The outlook for October for Middle Tennessee from the Climate
Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and above
normal rainfall.
