...Climate Summary for June, 2021...

The month of June brought near normal temperatures to Middle
Tennessee, but also a large disparity in rainfall totals.

In Nashville, the average temperature for the first month of
meteorological summer was 78.0 degrees, which was 0.9 degrees
above normal. The average high temperature was 88.1 degrees and
the average low temperature was 67.9 degrees. The highest
temperature recorded in June was 96 degrees on the 13th and 29th,
and the coolest reading was 56 degrees on the 23rd. There were 13
days on which the temperature climbed to 90 degrees or better.

The monthly rainfall totaled 2.21 inches, which was 2.15 inches
below normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.19 inches on the
1st and 2nd. There were 10 days with measurable rainfall. Nearly
all of Nashville's June rainfall occurred during the first 11
days. There were only 2 days with measurable rainfall after the
11th, totaling just 0.16 inches.

There were 6 days with thunderstorms in June, and the fastest
wind gust was 43 mph on the 21st.

In Clarksville, the average temperature was 75.6 degrees. This was
0.6 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 85.4
degrees and the average low temperature was 65.8 degrees. The
highest temperature for the month was 93 degrees, observed on the
12th and 29th. The lowest reading was 50 degrees on the 23rd.
There were 7 days on which the temperature climbed to 90 degrees
or better.

The monthly rainfall total was 6.37 inches. That's 2.72 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.74 inches on the
1st and 2nd. There were 12 days with measurable rainfall in June,
and 2 days with an inch or more.

There was only 1 day with thunderstorms during the entire month,
and the fastest wind gust was 40 mph on the 21st.

In Crossville, the average temperature was 70.9 degrees. This was
0.7 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 80.1
degrees and the average low temperature was 61.8 degrees. The
highest temperature for the month was 87 degrees, observed on the
28th and 29th. The lowest reading was 50 degrees on the 23rd.

The monthly rainfall total was 5.91 inches. That's 0.98 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.18 inches on
the 2nd and 3rd. There were 13 days with measurable rainfall in
June, and 2 days with an inch or more.

There were 7 days with thunderstorms during the month, and the
fastest wind gust was 47 mph on the 12th.

Through the first half of 2021, Nashville has measured a total of
29.26 inches of precipitation, which is 2.15 inches above normal.
Clarksville has recorded 27.87 inches of precipitation, which is
3.30 inches above normal. Crossville has measured just 27.14
inches of precipitation so far this year, which is 3.96 inches
below normal.

The July outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate Prediction
Center calls for below normal temperatures and above normal
rainfall.
