October, 2020 was slightly warmer than normal, and also wetter
than normal owing to tropical activity that has lasted well into
the autumn season.

At Nashville, the average temperature for October was 62.4
degrees. This is 2.1 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 73.0 degrees and the average low was 51.8. The
highest temperature for the month was 86 degrees on the 22nd, and
the lowest observed temperature was 38 degrees on the 17th.

Rainfall for October added up to 3.51 inches. This was 0.47 inches
above normal. (October is typically the driest month of the year.)
The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.15 inches on the 10th. There
were 11 days with measurable precipitation, and one day with an
inch or more.

There was only one day with thunderstorm activity. The fastest
wind gust was 31 mph on the 15th, 23rd and 29th. Nashville's
year-to-date rainfall stands at 46.74 inches, which is 7.79 inches
above normal.

At Clarksville, the average temperature for October was 59.0
degrees. This is just one-tenth of a degree above normal. The
average high temperature was 70.2 degrees and the average low was
47.9. The highest temperature for the month was 85 degrees on the
22nd, and the lowest observed temperature was 34 degrees on the
17th.

inches above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.14
inches on the 28th. There were 10 days with measurable

There was one day with thunderstorm activity. The fastest wind
gust was 40 mph on the 12th. Clarksville's year-to-date rainfall

inches on the 28th. There were 11 days with measurable

There were two days with thunderstorm activity. The fastest wind
gust was 37 mph on the 29th. Crossville's year-to-date rainfall
stands at 69.22 inches, which is 23.91 inches above normal.

Finally, the outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for
Middle Tennessee for November calls for above normal temperatures
and below normal precipitation.
