...Looking back at February, 2020...

February, 2020 was slightly warmer and much wetter than normal,
although not nearly as rainy as last year's record-breaking
February.

In Nashville, the average temperature for the month was 44.9
degrees, which was 3.2 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 54.1 degrees and the average low was 35.6. The
highest observed temperature was 72 degrees on the 3rd and the
lowest temperature was 17 degrees on the 15th.

Monthly rainfall added up to 6.69 inches. That's 2.75 inches above
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.41 inches on the
12th. Measurable rainfall was observed on 17 out of 29 days. Two
days saw at least an inch of rain. There was also a total of 1.1
inches of snowfall that occurred on the 6th and 7th.

There was only 1 day on which thunderstorms were observed. The
fastest wind gust was 46 mph on the 12th. There were 14 cloudy
days in February, 12 partly cloudy days and only 3 clear days.

At Crossville, the average temperature for the month was 40.7
degrees, which was 1.4 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 49.6 degrees and the average low was 31.7. The
highest observed temperature was 66 degrees on the 3rd and the
lowest temperature was 15 degrees on the 15th.

Monthly rainfall added up to 10.43 inches. That's 5.97 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 2.96 inches on
the 5th. Measurable rainfall was observed on 15 out of 29 days.
Four days saw at least an inch of rain.

There were 3 days on which thunderstorms were observed. The
fastest wind gust was 43 mph on the 12th. There were 14 cloudy
days in February, 7 partly cloudy days and 8 clear days.

For Clarksville, the average temperature for the month was 41.7
degrees, which was 2.1 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 51.3 degrees and the average low was 32.0. The
highest observed temperature was 74 degrees on the 3rd and the
lowest temperature was 14 degrees on the 15th.

Monthly rainfall added up to 4.78 inches. That's 0.61 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.15 inches on
the 10th. Measurable rainfall was observed on 13 out of 29 days.
One day saw at least an inch of rain.

There was only 1 day on which thunderstorms were observed. The
fastest wind gust was 40 mph on the 12th. There were 11 cloudy
days in February, 11 partly cloudy days and 7 clear days.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for March calls for
more of the same. Middle Tennesseans can expect both temperatures
and precipitation to remain above normal.
