...June, 2020 Climate Summary for Middle Tennessee...

June, 2020 was typical for Middle Tennessee, with usual summertime
warmth and several thunderstorm days. The most unusual
occurrence took place from the 22nd through the 27th, when the
high temperature reached exactly 88 degrees at Nashville for 6
consecutive days. It's the only time in 150 years of record-
keeping that the same high temperature has been recorded 6 days in
a row.

For Nashville, the average temperature was 77.5 degrees. That's
1.8 degrees above normal. Breaking it down, the average high
temperature was 88.6 degrees and the average low was 66.5 degrees.
The highest temperature for the month was 95 degrees, which
occurred on the 7th and the 20th. The lowest observed temperature
was 53 degrees on the 1st. There were 13 days with a high
temperature of 90 degrees or above.

Rainfall for June totaled 3.33 inches. That's 0.81 inches below
normal. The most rainfall in 24 hours was 1.42 inches on the last
day of the month. There were 8 days with measurable rainfall and 1
day with an inch or more.

The fastest wind gust was 41 mph on the 30th, and there were 8
days with thunderstorms.

For Clarksville, the average temperature for June was 74.8
degrees. That's just 0.3 degrees above normal. The average high
temperature was 85.5 degrees and the average low was 64.0 degrees.
The highest observed temperature in June was 93 degrees on the 6th
and 7th, and the lowest observed temperature was 51 degrees on the
1st. There were 5 days with a high temperature of 90 degrees or
above.

Rainfall for the month added up to 4.63 inches. That's 0.15 inches
above normal. The most received in a 24-hour period was 1.48
inches on the 30th. There were 10 days with measurable
precipitation in June, and 2 days with an inch or more.

The peak wind gust was 45 mph, which occurred on the 30th, and
there were 8 days with thunderstorms.

Crossville was significantly cooler than either Nashville or
Clarksville. The average temperature for June was 69.6 degrees,
which is 1.4 degrees below normal. The average high was 79.7
degrees and the average low was 59.5 degrees. The highest
temperature for the month was 87 degrees on the 7th and the lowest
temperature was 47 degrees, which occurred on the 1st.

Rainfall during June was 4.95 inches. That's 0.35 inches above
normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.41 inches on the 21st.
Overall, there were 11 days with measurable precipitation and 2
days with an inch or more.

The fastest wind gust was 35 mph on the 21st, and there were 7
days with thunderstorms.

The monthly outlook for July from the Climate Prediction Center
calls for above normal temperatures and above normal precipitation
across Middle Tennessee.
