Areas affected...Portions of west-central Tennessee

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 082016Z - 082145Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent

SUMMARY...Developing thunderstorms will pose a risk for hail and
wind in the near term, but storm interactions may limit the duration
and coverage of the severe threat.

DISCUSSION...Storms developing along an east-west oriented line
across parts of west-central TN are strengthening in an environment
with little to no inhibition and nearly 2500 J/kg of MLCAPE along
with 50 knots of effective bulk shear. Elongated, straight
hodographs (per RAP forecast soundings) in this region will promote
splitting storms. Although deep layer flow oriented parallel to the
line of storms will increase the probability of storm interactions
with time and casts some uncertainty regarding the duration and
coverage of the severe threat, discrete to semi-discrete modes in
the near term will pose a risk for severe hail and strong wind.
Trends will be monitored and a watch may be needed.
