...March, 2020 continued Middle Tennessee's wet, warm weather
pattern...

It sounds like a broken record, but March, 2020 was above normal
in both temperature and rainfall.

In Nashville, the average temperature for the month was 55.9
degrees. That's 5.9 degrees above normal. The average high was
65.5 degrees and the average low was 46.4. The highest observed
temperature was 84 degrees on the 27th. The lowest temperature was
30 degrees on the 7th. There were 3 days in which freezing
temperatures occurred -- none after the 8th. On the 26th, the
morning low was 43 degrees. The afternoon high was 83, for a rare
and remarkable 40 degree warm-up.

Rainfall for month added up to 6.52 inches, which is 2.41 inches
above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.00 inch, which
occurred on the 17th. Rainfall was measured on 19 days. From the
10th to the 24th, measurable rainfall occurred 13 out of 15 days.

The average wind speed was 8.2 miles an hour. The fastest gust was
40 miles an hour, which occurred on the 3rd. There were 8 days
with thunderstorms.

At Crossville, the average temperature was 52.1 degrees, which is
4.8 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 60.6
degrees and the average low was 43.5. The highest observed
temperature for March was 79 degrees on the 27th and the lowest
temperature was 25 on the 1st. There were 4 days with freezing
temperatures.

There were 7.82 inches of rainfall for the month, which is 2.84
inches above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 1.28 inches
on the 20th. There were 16 days with measurable rainfall, and 3
days with an inch or more.

The average wind speed was 6.5 miles an hour. The fastest wind
gust was 63 mph on the 29th. There were 5 days with thunderstorms.

At Clarksville, the average temperature was 53.8 degrees, which
is 5.0 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was
63.5 degrees and the average low was 44.1. The highest observed
temperature for March was 85 degrees on the 26th and the lowest
temperature was 25 on the 7th. There were 3 days with freezing
temperatures.

There were 7.66 inches of rainfall for the month, which is 3.59
inches above normal. The greatest 24-hour rainfall was 0.97 inches
on the 24th. There were 18 days with measurable rainfall.

The average wind speed was 8.4 miles an hour. The fastest wind
gust was 63 mph on the 28th. There were 8 days with
thunderstorms.

Finally, the April outlook for Middle Tennessee from the Climate
Prediction Center calls for no deviation from the current pattern
of warmer than normal temperatures and above normal rainfall.
