...October, 2019...in with a heatwave...out with a chill...

Last month goes in the record books for producing the hottest
temperatures ever observed in October. Before this year, the
record high for October for Nashville was 94 degrees. We surpassed
that mark on 4 of the first 5 days of the month, peaking at 99
degrees on the 2nd and 3rd. In spite of the unprecedented heat to
start off, the remainder of October was a lot more mild. We
finished the month with an average temperature of 63.7 degrees,
which is 3.4 degrees above normal. The average high temperature
was 75.7 and the average low was 51.7. The lowest temperature of
the month was 33 degrees on the 31st.

October was also a wet month. Whereas September was the driest
September on record, October brought 6.46 inches of rain, making
this the 7th-wettest October on record. There were 11 days with
measurable precipitation, and two days with an inch or more.

The peak wind gust was 47 mph on the 26th. There were 3 days with
thunderstorms.

At Crossville, the average temperature was 58.9 degrees. This was
1.9 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 70.8
degrees and the average low was 46.9 degrees. The highest
temperature was 91 degrees on the 1st and 3rd, and the lowest
reading was 30 degrees on the 31st. Rainfall totaled 5.98 inches,
which was 2.94 inches above normal. There were 13 days with
measurable rainfall and 3 days with an inch or more.

Finally, the average temperature at Clarksville was 60.6 degrees,
which was 1.7 degrees above normal. The average high temperature
was 72.9 degrees and the average low was 48.2 degrees. The highest
temperature was 96 degrees on the 2nd and the lowest reading was
29 degrees on the 31st. Rainfall totaled 8.36 inches, which was
4.45 inches above normal. There were 10 days with measurable
rainfall and 3 days with an inch or more.
