The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Southeastern Smith County in Middle Tennessee...
  Northeastern De Kalb County in Middle Tennessee...
  Southwestern Jackson County in Middle Tennessee...
  Southwestern Putnam County in Middle Tennessee...

* Until 515 PM CDT.

* At 442 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Baxter, or 12
  miles north of Smithville, moving north at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Gainesboro, Baxter, Center Hill Lake, Granville and Edgar Evans
  State Park.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 262 and 280.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately.
Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
