...Very Cold Air Moving Into Middle Tennessee...

Colder air moving into Middle Tennessee will create a little
wintry precipitation through this evening. Rain will change to
light sleet and snow before tapering off. Most locations will not
have any accumulation, but a few spots, mainly across the Upper
Cumberland, could have a quick little dusting of snow during the
evening. Also, a few leftover patches of mist or drizzle could
freeze late in the evening as temperatures fall below freezing.
So, drivers will want to be alert for some spots of ice late this
evening, especially on bridges across the Upper Cumberland.

The main weather impact for most people will be the unusual cold.
This will be the coldest blast of air since January. By Monday
morning rush hour, air temperatures will be in the teens to mid
20s with wind chills in the teens across the Mid State. Highs on
Monday will be only in the low to mid 30s. This is around 20
degrees colder than normal. Both Monday night and Tuesday night
will have lows in the teens across Middle Tennessee.

As this unusual blast of cold air arrives, travelers should be
cautious this evening for the potential of a few slick spots.
Everyone should prepare for the cold temperatures through
Wednesday. Make sure children are dressed appropriately each
morning and take care of your outdoor pets.
