Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 439...440...

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 439, 440
continues.

SUMMARY...Damaging winds with ongoing storms will likely remain the
primary threat across Severe Thunderstorm Watch 439 and 440 this
afternoon and evening.

DISCUSSION...Multiple short line segments/bowing clusters have
developed this afternoon across eastern TN/KY into southeastern OH
as large-scale ascent preceding an upper trough moves over these
regions. With fast northeastward storm motions around 35-45 kt being
observed, a primarily linear storm mode, and low-level lapse rates
having become at least modestly steepened ahead of this activity,
scattered to widespread damaging winds will likely be the main
threat through the remainder of the afternoon and continuing into
the early evening. A tornado or two also cannot be ruled out in the
next hour or two, primarily in eastern KY and western WV where
semi-discrete storms should continue to exhibit some low-level
rotation to the east of a remnant MCV where 0-1 km SRH is locally
maximized.
