NORTHWESTERN WHITE AND SOUTHWESTERN PUTNAM COUNTIES UNTIL 445 PM
CDT...

At 423 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Baxter, or 10 miles northeast of Smithville, moving
east at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 35 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Cookeville, Sparta, Baxter, Burgess Falls State Park, Hamptons
Crossroads and Bakers Crossroads.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 270 and 285.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
