...Arctic air remains across all of Middle Tennessee through
midday Thursday...
An Arctic cold front will continue to bring colder temperatures
to Middle Tennessee through early Thursday. The coldest night of
the season, thus far, is expected to occur tonight when low
temperatures drop to between 5 and 15 degrees. A northerly wind of
5 mph will cause the wind chill values to feel even a few degrees
colder. Temperatures will finally begin to rebound by Thursday
afternoon with highs reaching the 30s and 40s.
In addition to brutally cold temperatures a quick moving system
will bring some snow to locations mainly along and north of I-40.
A few flurries to a dusting will be possible. The Upper Cumberland
Plateau has the best chance of seeing any accumulating snow.
To protect yourself against this Arctic cold, be sure to dress in
layers and cover all exposed skin if venturing outside. Consider
bringing in any outdoor pets to protect them from the cold. Wrap
any outdoor pipes and faucets, and leave a slow drip on indoor
faucets, to prevent them from freezing or bursting. Check on the
elderly and homeless as they are more susceptible to the cold.
