...Heavy Rain and Light Snow Possible This Weekend...

A major storm system will bring numerous showers and a few
thunderstorms to Middle Tennessee on Saturday. Rainfall amounts
ranging from 1 to 3 inches are forecast, which could cause some
flooding along creeks, streams, low lying areas and other flood
prone locations.

An Arctic cold front will then bring much colder temperatures to
the area Saturday night, causing the rain to eventually change to
light snow before ending Sunday morning. Although snow
accumulations remain uncertain, a dusting up to 1 inch of snow is
possible, with higher amounts more likely north of I-40.

Any snow that does fall, as well as any standing water left over
from the heavy rain, may turn to ice and cause travel
difficulties on area roadways, bridges, and overpasses on Sunday
as temperatures fall below freezing.

Stay up to date with the latest forecasts regarding the potential
for heavy rain and winter weather this weekend, as travel may be
impacted in Middle Tennessee and much of the eastern parts of the
country.
