This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Middle
Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Southerly wind speeds in advance of an approaching strong cold
front will be increasing as the day progresses. Wind speeds should
reach their maximums during the mid afternoon hours today.
South sustained winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35 up to around 40
mph will be possible. Thus a wind advisory has been issued for
all of Middle Tennessee through the late afternoon hours today.
Gusty winds can cause tree and branch damage. Loose outdoor
objects may be blown around. High profile vehicles in particular,
may experience travel difficulties. Isolated power outages
may also occur.

A cold front will sweep across Middle Tennessee this afternoon and
evening, and will bring showers and a few storms to the mid state.
Total additional rainfall amounts through tonight will generally
average less than one inch. However, isolated thunderstorms that
form along the front may produce brief, heavy rainfall which
could lead to minor, localized flooding, especially areas along
and north of I-40 that experienced flooding yesterday afternoon
and evening. A flash flood watch is in effect for northern
portions of Middle Tennessee from the mid afternoon through
evening hours tonight. River flooding will continue at selected
locations across the Cumberland, Red, and Stones Rivers through
tonight also.

Furthermore, there is a possiblity as temperatures fall below
freezing late tonight, that any residual moisture on area roadways
could freeze, especially on secondary roadways, bridges, and
overpasses. Thus, patch black ice formation could occur across
the mid state region, especially for locations around and west of
the I-65 corridor where overnight low temperatures are expected
to fall into the mid 20s.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

The next rain event will begin on Sunday, with wet weather likely
lasting through Tuesday. At this time, it appears that a total of
2 to 3 inches of rain is possible during this multi-day event.
Given the excessive rainfall amounts that fell in parts of Middle
Tennessee yesterday and last evening, additional flash flooding
and river flooding are possible with this active weather system.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Reports of measured wind speeds along with any reports of
additional flooding relayed to the NWS Nashville office are
appreciated.
