The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Extreme northeastern Georgia
  Western and southern North Carolina
  Northern South Carolina
  Eastern Tennessee
  Coastal Waters

* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 100 PM until
  1000 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are developing across eastern Tennessee and
these storms should increase in coverage/intensity through the
afternoon and grow into clusters and short line segments while
moving toward the western Carolinas with an attendant threat for
damaging winds.  Farther east, multicell and pulse-type severe
storms should form in the next few hours, with the threat for a few
damaging downbursts.  A couple of storm clusters could persist
beyond sunset across the Carolinas.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles north and south of a line from 55 miles west southwest
of Hot Springs NC to 45 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach SC. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A few
cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
29025.
