...Light Freezing Rain Possible Tonight Across The Northwestern
Third Of Middle Tennessee...

A cold front will be working its way eastward across Middle
Tennessee today. In its wake, colder air will be spilling in
across the region. An eastward moving upper level impulse will
develop upstream by late afternoon and will begin spreading rain
shower activity into northwestern areas of the mid state this
evening. Temperatures by midnight are expected to fall to near
freezing across northwest areas and will then fall a few degrees
below freezing thereafter. Therefore, a changeover from rain to
freezing rain is expected, beginning this evening. The best chance
of freezing rain will occur across that portion of Middle
Tennessee along and to the northwest of a Springfield to Ashland
City to New Johnsonville line. Elsewhere across Middle Tennessee,
overnight low temperatures should remain just above freezing.
Therefore, the precipitation will remain in liquid form.

Accumulations in the northwest will be light with no more than
0.05 inches of ice being possible. The biggest impact may come
after midnight when temperatures fall into the upper 20s to near
30 degrees. Moisture on area roadways, especially along bridges
and overpasses, will begin to freeze and produce areas of black
ice. Motorists are urged to stay tuned and pay attention as
roadway conditions could become dangerous by late tonight.
