URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Nashville TN
1102 AM CST Thu Feb 1 2018

...A Winter Weather Advisory Is In Effect For The Northern
Plateau Tonight...

.A cold front is expected to move across Middle Tennessee this
afternoon, bringing rainfall to much of the area. Moisture will
remain in place behind the frontal passage as a series of impulses
work northeastward along the front. As colder air builds into the
area, freezing levels will become low enough to support a quicker
changeover from rain to snow. Across the Plateau, this changeover
will occur while the deeper moisture is still in place. Thus,
accumulating snowfall is looking likely across the northern
Plateau as well as higher areas of the central Plateau.

The snowfall should taper off after midnight. However, as the
colder air continues to pour in, temperatures will drop well below
freezing by sunrise. Dangerous road conditions are expected to
develop this evening and will not improve until sometime during
the day on Friday, when sunshine returns.
