Areas affected...Parts of the Allegheny and Cumberland Plateau

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 30...34...

Valid 040349Z - 040515Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 30, 34
continues.

SUMMARY...A risk for locally damaging wind gusts will continue with
storms spreading into the western slopes of the central/southern
Appalachians through 1-2 AM EDT. Additional watches to the east are
not anticipated.

DISCUSSION...The more intense leading edge of the pre-frontal
thunderstorm development has been maintaining at least modest
strength for the past hour or so. With some low-level moisture
return evident within a residual axis of warmer boundary layer air
ahead of it (where temperatures remain at or above 70f) into the
western slopes of the central and southern Appalachians, activity
may persist into the 05-06Z time frame before undergoing more
notable weakening/ dissipation. Until this occurs, it will continue
to pose a risk for localized damaging surface gusts.
