Areas affected...Tennessee...adjacent southern Kentucky

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 274...

Valid 271413Z - 271545Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 274
continues.

SUMMARY...Lingering thunderstorm activity is expected to continue
developing east of severe thunderstorm watch 274. A new watch is
not anticipated in the near term, but trends will be monitored.

DISCUSSION...Scattered ongoing thunderstorm activity appears largely
supported by mid/upper forcing for ascent associated with a weak
short wave impulse within the subtropical westerlies. As this
feature (and an associated 50 kt 500 mb jet streak) continues east
northeastward toward the central/southern Appalachians through early
afternoon, it probably will contribute to weakening of inhibition
associated with elevated mixed layer now present across the
Tennessee Valley. However, until more substantive boundary layer
heating/mixing occurs across this region, any potential for
substantive re-intensification of thunderstorm development seems
limited.
