Survey Summary:

A brief EF-0 Tornado first touched down just south of the Belfast Community
on Fishing Ford Road damaging some roofs on a few houses, destroying several
outbuildings, and snapping several trees.  The tornado continued on the ground
east where additional damage occurred to several homes, outbuildings, and trees.  The tornado
quickly lifted before crossing the Bedford County line.

EF Scale:  The Enhanced Fujita Scale Classifies Tornadoes into
the following categories.

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 MPH
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 MPH
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 MPH
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 MPH
EF4...Violent...166 To 200 MPH
EF5...Violent...>200 MPH


.Lewisburg (Marshall County) Straight Line Thunderstorm Wind Damage...

Peak wind:                 Generally 75-80 MPH with peak at 90-95 MPH

Survey Summary:

Widespread straight line thunderstorm wind damage occurred across the city
of Lewisburg with generally 75-80 MPH winds snapping and uprooting dozens of
trees along with causing minor roof damage to several homes just south of town.
There was concentrated damage to a house with its entire metal roof blown off,
with some of that roof debris landing 3/4 miles away, and a large old oak
tree uprooted.


.Shelbyville (Bedford County) Airport Straight Line Thunderstorm Wind Damage...

Survey Summary:

Very strong straight line thunderstorm winds struck a industrial park causing roof
damage and then heavily impacted the Shelbyville Airport.  Unfortunately, the
observing equipment lost power so there was not any peak wind gusts reported.
Security cameras at the airport showed that indeed these were straight line winds
as well as capturing a power flash.  Significant damage occurred at the Shelbyville
Airport Fire Station including blown out windows and a steel beam twisted 180 degrees.
An old small airplane was flipped and thrown 30 yards to the east.
