An NWS storm survey team looked at two separate areas of wind
damage in Sumner County and Macon County from the Wednesday
morning March 1st storms and determined both areas were straight
line wind damage.

.Straight Line Wind Damage - Northern Sumner County...

End location:             6 miles E of Portland TN

A NWS storm survey determined non-continuous wind damage from
around downtown Portland eastward to about 6 miles east of
Portland, just to the north of Highway 52, was straight line wind
damage. The metal roof was blown off a church at Market Street
and Russell Street in downtown Portland and an outbuilding on Old
Westmoreland Road lost part of its roof. Scattered trees were also
blown down along the path just west of downtown Portland eastward
to Parker Road.

Start location:           1.2 Miles NNW of Lafayette TN

End location:             2.8 Miles ENE of Lafayette TN

A NWS storm survey determined non-continuous wind damage on the
north side of Lafayette was from straight line wind damage. A
metal roof was damaged at the DT McCalls building on Scottsville
Highway. An outbuilding suffered minor roof damage on Chaffin Road
and a home lost a small amount of siding on Coleytown Road at
Galen Road. A few trees and tree limbs were also blown down along
the path.
