...Dangerous Heat and Humidity Spreading into Middle Tennessee...

.Dangerously hot and humid weather will build across the Mid State
through Friday under strong high pressure. Temperatures will climb
into the mid to upper 90s with afternoon heat index values from
100 to 106.

This heat advisory may need to expanded farther eastward on
Friday, and the advisory may need to be extended through Saturday.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM CDT Friday.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...100 to 104 this afternoon, and 102 to 106
  for Friday afternoon.

* LOCATIONS...The highest heat index values will occur along and
  west of I-65, but this advisory may need to be expanded farther
  east on Friday. Also, the advisory may need to be extended
  through Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
  will lead to an increased risk of heat related stress and
  illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air
  conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
  activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors
  will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors.
