...December was warmer and wetter than normal at Nashville...

After three consecutive months of below normal precipitation,
Nashville finally ended its dry streak in December. The total
precipitation for December at Nashville was 6.94 inches, which was
2.70 inches above normal. This was the 13th wettest December on
record. The wettest December on record was in 1978 when 13.63
inches fell. Weather records in Nashville date back to 1870. The
greatest 24-hour precipitation for December was 2.08 inches, which
all fell on the 24th.

The average temperature for December at Nashville was 42.8
degrees, which was 2.4 degrees above normal. The average high was
52.1 degrees and the average low was 33.5 degrees. The warmest
temperature for the month was 76 degrees on Christmas Day, which
broke the previous daily record high of 73 degrees set in 1889.
This was also the 3rd warmest December high temperature on record.
