...Very warm June in Nashville with near normal rainfall...

The temperature for June in Nashville averaged 3.7 degrees above
normal. The average high was 90.8 degrees and the average low was
67.9 degrees. The warmest temperature during the month of June was
98 degrees on the 16th. The coolest temperature was 56 degrees on
the 8th and 9th. This was the fifth consecutive month with above
normal temperatures in Nashville. The high temperature on the
13th was 97 degrees breaking the record for the date of 96 degrees
set way back in 1880. Record keeping began here in Nashville in
November 1870 by the Army Signal Corp. Using the entire
database...June 2016 was the 14th warmest on record in Nashville.

Rainfall for Nashville in June totaled 4.45 inches which is 0.31
inch below normal. The greatest rainfall during a 24 hour period
was 2.00 inches on the 23rd and 24th.

A daily rainfall record was set on the 24th when 1.99 inches fell
breaking the old record for the date of 1.26 inches in 1993.

Rainfall through June in Nashville continues to lag behind normal
with a total of 18.90 inches since the first of the year...which
is 6.54 inches below normal.

The average wind speed was 4.7 miles an hour. The fastest gusts
were 53 miles an hour on the 15th...51 miles an hour on the 28th
and 48 miles an hour on the 23rd.

There were 12 days with thunderstorms.

There were 14 days with fog...1 day with dense fog.

No tornadoes occurred across Tennessee in the month of June. So
far this year there have been 5 tornadoes in Tennessee.
