CHRISTMAS DAY AND NIGHT...

.AN INTENSIFYING FRONT OVER THE AREA WILL CAUSE SHOWERS AND STORMS
TO DEVELOP. VERY MOIST AIR WILL MOVE ACROSS THE FRONT CAUSING
POCKETS OF HEAVY RAINFALL AND POSSIBLE FLOODING TO DEVELOP.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...INCLUDING THE
  FOLLOWING AREAS...BEDFORD...CANNON...CLAY...COFFEE...
  CUMBERLAND...DE KALB...FENTRESS...GILES...GRUNDY...HICKMAN...
  JACKSON...LAWRENCE...LEWIS...MARSHALL...MAURY...OVERTON...
  PERRY...PICKETT...PUTNAM...RUTHERFORD...SMITH...VAN BUREN...
  WARREN...WAYNE...WHITE...WILLIAMSON AND WILSON.

* FROM 6 AM CST FRIDAY THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT

* SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD ACROSS MIDDLE
  TENNESSEE CHRISTMAS DAY. 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE COMMON BY
  SATURDAY MORNING...AND SOME LOCATIONS COULD HAVE OVER 3 INCHES
  OF RAINFALL. POCKETS OF HEAVY RAINFALL ARE MOST LIKELY OVER THE
  SOUTHEAST HALF OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE. SOME OF THESE AREAS HAVE
  HAD HEAVY DOWNPOURS WITH RECENT STORMS...AND THE GROUND IS
  SATURATED...WITH CREEKS RUNNING HIGH.

* FLOODING OF LOW LYING AND OTHER FLOOD PRONE AREAS WILL BE
  POSSIBLE. PEOPLE WHO LIVE ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS SHOULD
  MONITOR LEVELS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION. TRAVELERS SHOULD
  BE ALERT FOR WATER COVERING THE ROAD. TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
  THERE WILL ALSO BE SOME SIGNIFICANT RISES ALONG MAJOR RIVERS
  ACROSS THE AREA INTO THE WEEKEND.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
