THE TEMPERATURE IN NASHVILLE FOR AUGUST 2013 AVERAGED 77.9 DEGREES
WHICH IS 0.8 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 86.9
DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 68.9 DEGREES. THE HOTTEST
TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 96 DEGREES ON THE 30TH AND
COOLEST WAS 58 DEGREES ON THE 15TH. NO TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE
SET THIS MONTH. THERE WERE 10 DAYS IN AUGUST IN WHICH THE
TEMPERATURE REACHED OR EXCEEDED THE 90 DEGREE MARK. THE HOTTEST
AUGUST ON RECORD WAS IN 2007 AND THE COOLEST WAS IN 1967.

THE NASHVILLE AIRPORT MEASURED 1.99 INCHES OF RAIN FOR THE MONTH
OF AUGUST. THIS IS 1.18 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THE GREATEST RAINFALL
DURING A 24 HOUR PERIOD WAS 0.8 INCH FALLING ON THE 7TH AND 8TH
OF AUGUST. THE WETTEST AUGUST ON RECORD IS 9.60 INCHES IN 1923 AND
THE DRIEST IS 0.51 INCH IN 1929.

THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED ON 9 DAYS.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 4.2 MILES AN HOUR. THE FASTEST GUST WAS
36 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 9TH.

FOG OCCURRED ON 19 DAYS WITH DENSE FOG ON 2 DAYS.

EVEN THOUGH THE NASHVILLE AIRPORT WAS DRIER THAN NORMAL IN AUGUST
MANY AREAS NEAR INTERSTATE 40 RECEIVED MUCH HIGHER AMOUNTS OF RAIN
BECAUSE OF STORMS THAT MOVED ACROSS THE SAME AREA ON THE MORNING
OF AUGUST 8TH CAUSING FLOODING IN AT SEVERAL LOCATIONS. MONTHLY RAINFALL
TOTALS FOR AUGUST WERE MORE THAN 10 INCHES IN THE MADISON AREA OF
DAVIDSON COUNTY...WITH MORE THAN 9 INCHES IN WESTERN WILSON
COUNTY. 8 INCHES FELL IN SOUTHWEST SUMNER COUNTY AND MORE THAN 7
INCHES FELL IN SMITH AND PUTNAM COUNTIES. MUCH OF THIS RAIN FELL
ON THE MORNING OF THE 8TH.

...CLARKSVILLE WAS BELOW NORMAL IN TEMPERATURE AND NEAR NORMAL
IN RAINFALL...

CLARKSVILLE'S TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST 2013 AVERAGED 76.1 DEGREES
WHICH IS 1.1 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL. CLARKSVILLE HAD THE COOLEST
AUGUST SINCE 2009. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 85.4 DEGREES AND THE
AVERAGE LOW WAS 66.9 DEGREES. THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE WAS 94
DEGREES ON THE 30TH AND 31ST AND THE COOLEST WAS 54 DEGREES ON THE
15TH. THE HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD IN CLARKSVILLE WAS IN 2007 AND
THE COOLEST WAS IN 1967.
