...APRIL WAS WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL...

TEMPERATURES IN APRIL WERE ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE 6TH CONSECUTIVE
MONTH IN NASHVILLE. THIS WAS ALSO THE 4TH CONSECUTIVE APRIL WITH
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 62.0 DEGREES...WHICH
IS 3.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 74.1 DEGREES AND
THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 49.9 DEGREES.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 87 DEGREES ON THE
2ND...WHICH TIED THE RECORD FOR THE DATE SET BACK IN 1946. A
RECORD HIGH WAS BROKEN ON THE 3RD OF APRIL WHEN THE TEMPERATURE
CLIMBED TO 86 DEGREES...BREAKING THE RECORD FOR THE DATE SET IN
1999. THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2012 WAS
33 DEGREES ON THE 12TH.

ITS INTERESTING TO NOTE...ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WITH AGRICULTURAL
INTERESTS THAT THE LAST FREEZE THIS SPRING OCCURRED BACK ON MARCH
6TH WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FELL TO 31 DEGREES. THE RECORD BOOK SHOWS
THIS TO BE ONE OF THE EARLIEST LAST FREEZES ON RECORD AND THE
EARLIEST SINCE MARCH 5TH 1927. SINCE RECORD KEEPING BEGAN BACK IN
1870 THE EARLIEST LAST FREEZE ON RECORD OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 26TH
1905.

BELOW IS A LIST OF THE SIX EARLIEST LAST FREEZES IN THE SPRING.

RAINFALL FOR APRIL 2012 TOTALED 2.86 INCHES WHICH IS 1.14 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THE GREATEST AMOUNT TO FALL IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD WAS
1.33 INCHES ON THE 4TH AND 5TH. RAINFALL THIS APRIL (2012) IS IN
SHARP CONTRAST TO LAST APRIL (2011) WHICH WAS ONE OF THE WETTEST
ON RECORD IN NASHVILLE. THE RAINFALL TOTALED 7.51 INCHES DURING
THE MONTH OF APRIL 2011.

NO SNOW FELL IN APRIL.

THERE WERE 3 DAYS WITH THUNDERSTORMS. ON AVERAGE NASHVILLE WILL
HAVE ABOUT 5 DAYS DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 6.7 MILES AN HOUR. THE FASTEST GUST WAS
36 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 16TH.

FOG OCCURRED ON 11 DAYS...WITH NO DAYS OF DENSE FOG.

THERE WAS ONE TORNADO IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE DURING THE MONTH. AN EF0
TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN NEAR FRANKLIN IN WILLIAMSON COUNTY AROUND 7
PM CDT ON APRIL 26TH 2012. THERE WERE 6 INJURIES AND NO FATALITIES.

CLARKSVILLE WAS ABOVE NORMAL IN TEMPERATURE FOR APRIL 2012. THE
TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 59.9 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.3 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 72.4 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS
47.3 DEGREES.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 87 DEGREES ON THE 2ND
AND THE COLDEST WAS 31 DEGREES ON THE 12TH.

THERE WAS ONE DAY WITH THE TEMPERATURE BELOW FREEZING.

IT WAS A DRY MONTH IN CLARKSVILLE...WITH RAINFALL TOTALING 1.76
INCHES...WHICH IS 2.71 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

THERE WERE 4 DAYS WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 6.6 MILES AN HOUR. THE FASTEST GUST WAS
37 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 15TH.

FOG OCCURRED ON 11 DAYS...WITH NO DAYS OF DENSE FOG.

CROSSVILLE WAS ABOVE NORMAL IN TEMPERATURE FOR APRIL 2012. THE
TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 58.7 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.9 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 69.9 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS
47.5 DEGREES.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 82 DEGREES ON THE 29TH AND THE COLDEST
WAS 29 DEGREES ON THE 12TH.

THERE WERE 3 DAYS WITH THUNDERSTORMS.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 5.6 MILES AN HOUR. THE FASTEST GUST WAS
33 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 23RD AND 26TH.

FOG OCCURRED ON 14 DAYS...WITH 2 DAYS OF DENSE FOG.
