THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE TN HAS CONFIRMED AN EF2 TORNADO
BEGINNING IN THE DOBSON BRANCH COMMUNITY IN SOUTHEASTERN JACKSON
COUNTY SPANNING ACROSS NORTHERN PUTNAM COUNTY AND ENDING ABOUT 4
MILES NORTH OF THE CITY OF RICKMAN AT HIGHWAY 111 IN SOUTHWESTERN
OVERTON COUNTY TENNESSEE ON MARCH 2 2012.

IN THE DOBSON COMMUNITY IN JACKSON COUNTY...A COUPLE DOZEN HOMES WERE
HEAVILY DAMAGED. 17 ADDITIONAL HOMES WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED IN
RURAL OVERTON COUNTY. HUNDREDS OF TREES WERE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED
ALONG THE PATH OF THE TORNADO. THE SURVEY TEAM CONCLUDED THAT THE
TORNADO LIFTED ABOUT 4 MILES NORTH OF THE CITY OF RICKMAN AT
HIGHWAY 111 MAKING THE PATH LENGTH 11.3 MILES. MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH
OF 0.5 MILES. THERE WERE 3 INJURIES REPORTED IN THE DOBSON BRANCH
COMMUNITY. NO FATALITIES.
