...SEPTEMBER WAS COOLER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL...

SEPTEMBER 2011 IN NASHVILLE WAS THE 14TH WETTEST SEPTEMBER WITH
6.20 INCHES OF RAIN WHICH WAS 2.79 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

MORE THAN HALF THE RAINFALL IN SEPTEMBER 2011 FELL DURING THE
FIRST WEEK. A CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD WAS SET ON SEPTEMBER
5TH WHEN 2.21 INCHES OF RAIN FELL BREAKING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF
1.36 INCHES SET IN 1889. ANOTHER CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD WAS
SET ON SEPTEMBER 6TH WHEN 1.18 INCHES OF RAIN FELL BREAKING THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 1.03 INCHES SET IN 1906.

SEPTEMBER 2011 IN NASHVILLE WAS THE 17TH COOLEST ON RECORD AND THE
COOLEST SEPTEMBER SINCE 1994. ALTHOUGH SEPTEMBER STARTED OFF WITH
RECORD BREAKING HEAT...IT ENDED 2.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE
HOTTEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 99 DEGREES ON THE 2ND AND
3RD...AND THE COOLEST WAS 48 DEGREES ON THE 27TH. THE AVERAGE HIGH
TEMPERATURE WAS 79.7 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 58.6 DEGREES.
THERE WERE 3 DAYS OF 90 DEGREES AND ABOVE.

A NEW DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET ON SEPTEMBER 2ND WITH
99 DEGREES BREAKING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 98 SET IN 1925. THE
HIGH TEMPERATURE ON SEPTEMBER 6TH WAS ONLY 59 DEGREES...SHATTERING
THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR THE LOWEST DAILY HIGH FOR THE DATE SET IN
1918 WITH 70 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 5.6 MILES AN HOUR. THE
FASTEST WIND GUST WAS 40 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 26TH.

THERE WERE 2 DAYS IN WHICH THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED IN NASHVILLE.

CROSSVILLE...WAS COOLER AND MUCH WETTER THAN NORMAL. THE TEMPERATURE
AVERAGED 2.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 74.7
DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 55.2 DEGREES. THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE
WAS 95 DEGREES ON THE 2ND AND COOLEST WAS 43 DEGREES ON THE 24TH.
THERE WERE 3 DAYS OF 90 DEGREES AND ABOVE.

RAINFALL TOTALED 7.62 INCHES WHICH WAS 3.74 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
THE GREATEST CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL WAS 3.02 INCHES ON THE 5TH.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR SEPTEMBER WAS 3.8 MILES AN HOUR. THE
FASTEST WIND GUST WAS 40 MILES AN HOUR ON THE 6TH.

THERE WERE 4 DAYS IN WHICH THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED AT CROSSVILLE.

CLARKSVILLE...WAS COOLER AND SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL IN RAINFALL.
THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 2.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE
HIGH WAS 78.0 DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 57.8 DEGREES. THE
HOTTEST TEMPERATURE WAS 99 DEGREES ON THE 2ND AND 3RD OF SEPTEMBER.
THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE WAS 48 DEGREES ON THE 27TH. THERE WERE 3
DAYS OF 90 DEGREES AND ABOVE.

RAINFALL TOTALED 4.10 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.57 INCH ABOVE NORMAL. THE
GREATEST CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL WAS 1.25 INCHES ON THE 4TH.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED WAS 5.3 MILES AN HOUR. A THUNDERSTORM ON
THE 10TH PRODUCED A WIND GUST OF 47 MILES AN HOUR.

THERE WERE 7 DAYS IN WHICH THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED AT CLARKSVILLE.
