...FEBRUARY WAS WETTER AND WARMER THAN NORMAL...

...FIRST TORNADOES OF 2011 STRIKE MIDDLE TENNESSEE...

AFTER A COLDER THAN NORMAL START TO FEBRUARY...THE MONTH ENDED 2.4
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL IN NASHVILLE. THE TEMPERATURE FOR FEBRUARY
AVERAGED 43.7 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 75
DEGREES ON THE 27TH AND THE COLDEST WAS 7 DEGREES ON THE 11TH.

IT WAS THE WETTEST FEBRUARY SINCE 2004. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 5.54
INCHES FOR THE MONTH...WHICH IS 1.85 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THE
GREATEST SINGLE DAY RAINFALL FELL ON THE 24TH WHEN 2.10 INCHES
OCCURRED. THIS BROKE THE DAILY RAINFALL RECORD OF 1.45 INCHES SET
PREVIOUSLY IN 1965. SNOWFALL TOTALED 2.1 INCHES. THE GREATEST
SINGLE DAY SNOWFALL IN NASHVILLE FELL ON THE 9TH WITH 1.4 INCHES.
ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE...SNOWFALL ON THE 9TH RANGED FROM 1/2
INCH IN SOUTH CENTRAL SECTIONS TO 5 INCHES IN PERRY COUNTY.

THE FIRST TORNADOES OF 2011 STRUCK MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON THE EVENING
OF FEBRUARY 24TH WHEN 2 TORNADOES TOUCHED DOWN.THE FIRST TORNADO
OF 2011 WAS AN EF2 THAT STRUCK THE ANTIOCH AREA OF SOUTHEAST
DAVIDSON COUNTY AROUND 1002 PM...AND TRAVELED FOR 7.5 MILES. THERE
WERE NO FATALITIES OR INJURIES. THE SECOND TORNADO SPUN UP JUST
SOUTH OF CENTRAL PIKE ALONG GLADEVILLE ROAD IN WILSON COUNTY AT
1014 PM...AND TRAVELED FOR 8 MILES TO JUST SOUTH OF
LEBANON...THERE WERE 2 INJURIES AND NO FATALITIES.

CROSSVILLE ALSO HAD A WETTER AND WARMER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY. THE
TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 41.9 DEGREES WHICH WAS 2.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 66 DEGREES ON THE 17TH AND THE COLDEST
WAS 8 DEGREES ON THE 11TH. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 5.14 INCHES WHICH
IS 0.81 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THE GREATEST 24 HOUR RAINFALL OF 1.96
INCHES FELL ON THE 24TH AND 25TH.
