...ABOVE NORMAL HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE THROUGH AT
LEAST NEXT WEDNESDAY...

A STRONG BERMUDA HIGH WILL MAINTAIN ITS GRIP ON THE MIDDLE
TENNESSEE WEATHER PATTERN AT LEAST THROUGH THE WEEKEND AND
INTO THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK. AS A RESULT...HIGH TEMPERATURES
WILL GENERALLY REMAIN 5 TO 10 DEGREES ABOVE CLIMATE NORMS FOR THIS
TIME OF YEAR...WITH AFTERNOON HIGHS IN THE MID 90'S THROUGH AT
LEAST NEXT WEDNESDAY...ACROSS MOST OF THE MID STATE.

ON THIS FRIDAY...UPPER 90'S WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS LOCATIONS
NEAR THE TENNESSEE...ALABAMA BORDER...AS RAIN FREE CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS THIS AREA...AS WELL AS THE REMAINDER OF THE MID
STATE.

THUS...AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL GENERALLY RANGE FROM
100 TO 104 DEGREES...FOR LOCATIONS WEST OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU.
THOSE 104 DEGREE READINGS WILL BE IN LOCATIONS IN THE VICINITY
OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER VALLEY REGION.

DESPITE NOT HAVING HIGH TEMPERATURES GENERALLY IN THE MID
90S...WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES RANGING BETWEEN 100 AND 104
DEGREES...AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL STILL BE AT LEAST
5 DEGREES ABOVE CLIMATE NORMS ACROSS THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU
REGION...WHERE AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY BE
AROUND 90 DEGREES THROUGH NEXT WEDNESDAY ALSO.

SOME SLIGHT RELIEF IS IN SIGHT...AS SIGHTLY DRIER AIR WILL
INFILTRATE THE MID STATE BY EARLY NEXT WEEK...WHICH WILL RELIEVE
SOME OF THE HUMIDITY AND REDUCE HEAT INDICES BY A FEW DEGREES.

IN ADDITION...OVERNIGHT LOWS FROM TONIGHT THROUGH AT LEAST NEXT
TUESDAY NIGHT WILL REMAIN PRIMARILY IN THE LOWER TO MID 70'S...
WITH LOWS AROUND 70 ACROSS THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU REGION.

AS A RESULT...BE ADVISED THAT SUCH TEMPERATURES CAN LEAD TO A
VARIETY OF SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS...SUCH AS SUNSTROKE...HEAT
CRAMPS...AND HEAT EXHAUSTION...WITH PROLONGED EXPOSURE OR PHYSICAL
ACTIVITY. IF YOU MUST BE OUTSIDE DURING THE AFTERNOON...IT IS BEST
TO TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE SUMMER HEAT AND PROPER SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS...PLEASE VISIT NASHVILLE'S NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
