JANUARY

JANUARY WAS COLDER THAN NORMAL IN NASHVILLE. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED
1.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL DURING THE MONTH. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE
DURING THE MONTH AT NASHVILLE WAS 63 DEGREES ON THE 3RD AND 4TH. THE
COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 5 DEGREES ON THE 16TH. A NEW LOWEST DAILY
HIGH RECORD WAS SET ON JANUARY 16TH WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE
DAY ONLY REACHED 20 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 24 DEGREES SET
IN 1972. PRECIPITATION AT NASHVILLE TOTALED 4.59 INCHES FOR THE MONTH
OF JANUARY...WHICH WAS 0.62 INCH ABOVE NORMAL. SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH
TOTALED 0.4 INCH.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY WAS
64 DEGREES ON THE 4TH...AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 0 DEGREES ON
THE 16TH. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 5.79 INCHES.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY
WAS 64 DEGREES ON THE 23RD...AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 2
DEGREES ON THE 16TH. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 5.41 INCHES.


FEBRUARY

NASHVILLE HAD A WARM FEBRUARY IN 2009. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 2.5
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 73 DEGREES ON THE
8TH AND 18TH...WHILE THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 10 DEGREES ON THE
5TH. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 2.85 INCHES WHICH IS 0.84 INCH BELOW
NORMAL. THERE WAS A TRACE OF SNOW DURING THE MONTH.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
WAS 65 DEGREES ON THE 9TH AND 18TH...AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS
5 DEGREES ON THE 5TH. TOTAL PRECIPITATION WAS 3.52 INCHES WHICH IS
0.81 INCH BELOW NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY
WAS 72 DEGREES ON THE 8TH AND 9TH...AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 8
DEGREES ON THE 5TH. PRECIPITATION TOTALED 2.89 INCHES FOR THE MONTH.

THERE WERE TWO SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS DURING FEBRUARY. THE
FIRST OCCURRED ON THE 11TH WHEN A STRONG SQUALL LINE MOVED ACROSS
MIDDLE TENNESSEE PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS. CLARKSVILLE RECORDED A
WIND GUST TO 60 MPH. THERE WAS ALSO AN EF1 TORNADO IN SOUTHWEST
FENTRESS COUNTY. THERE WERE SEVERAL HAIL REPORTS ACROSS NORTHERN
PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON THE 18TH.



MARCH

MARCH WAS WARM AND DRY IN NASHVILLE. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 1.9
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 80
DEGREES ON THE 10TH WHICH BROKE A 130 YEAR OLD RECORD FOR THE DATE
SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1879 WITH 79 DEGREES. THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE IN
NASHVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH WAS 17 DEGREES ON THE 3RD.
PRECIPITATION TOTALED 2.92 INCHES FOR THE MONTH WHICH IS 1.95 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. SNOWFALL TOTALED 0.3 INCH FOR THE MONTH.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH WAS
74 DEGREES ON THE 10TH?AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 12 DEGREES ON
THE 3RD. TOTAL PRECIPITATION WAS 4.90 INCHES?WHICH IS 1.17 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH WAS
79 DEGREES ON THE 10TH?AND THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE WAS 16 DEGREES ON
THE 3RD. THE PRECIPITATION TOTALED 2.67 INCHES.

THERE WERE TWO SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENTS ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE
DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH. THE MONTH STARTED ON A SNOWY NOTE BUT
ONLY AT A FEW LOCATIONS. ON THE MORNING OF THE 1ST A NARROW BAND OF
HEAVY SNOW FELL ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL AREAS OF
MIDDLE TENNESSEE WITH 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW FROM PERRY COUNTY
ACROSS LAWRENCE AND INTO BEDFORD COUNTY. 3 TO 5 INCHES WERE REPORTED
ELSEWHERE ACROSS SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. MEANWHILE THE NORTHERN
PARTS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE RECEIVED VERY LITTLE SNOW.

SEVERE WEATHER STRUCK MIDDLE TENNESSEE DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING OF THE 28TH. SEVERAL HAIL REPORTS WERE RECEIVED BUT MORE
SIGNIFICANT WAS AN EF1 TORNADO TOUCHDOWN IN BOTH RUTHERFORD AND
CHEATHAM COUNTIES CAUSING SOME SIGNIFICANT PROPERTY DAMAGE.

APRIL

NASHVILLE HAD A NEAR NORMAL APRIL IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURE WITH THE
TEMPERATURE AVERAGING 0.5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. THE
WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 87 DEGREES ON THE 24TH AND 25TH WHILE THE
COLDEST WAS 34 DEGREES ON THE 7TH. NASHVILLE HAD A NEAR NORMAL APRIL
IN TERMS OF RAINFALL WITH A TOTAL OF 4.13 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.20 INCH
ABOVE NORMAL. NASHVILLE BROKE A CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD ON THE
2ND WHEN 1.80 INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 1.61
INCHES SET IN 1979. THERE WAS NO SNOWFALL IN THE MONTH OF APRIL AT
NASHVILLE.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL WAS
83 DEGREES ON THE 24TH AND 25TH?AND THE COLDEST WAS 29 DEGREES ON THE
8TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 6.59 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL WHICH IS
1.99 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING APRIL WAS 86 DEGREES ON
THE 24TH AND 25TH AND THE COLDEST WAS 33 DEGREES ON THE 4TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 4.78 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL.

APRIL WAS QUITE ACTIVE FOR SEVERE WEATHER ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE
WITH NUMEROUS TORNADOES REPORTED. ON THE 2ND AN EF1 TORNADO OCCURRED
IN THE NASHVILLE AREA NEAR THE AIRPORT CAUSING MOSTLY MINOR DAMAGE.
ON GOOD FRIDAY THE 10TH A SIGNIFICANT OUTBREAK OCCURRED. THE WORST
DAMAGE WAS IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY WHERE 3 TORNADOES TOUCHED DOWN...ONE
AN EF4. THERE WERE 2 FATALITIES REPORTED IN THE MURFREESBORO AREA.
ON THE 13TH AN EF0 TORNADO WAS REPORTED IN COFFEE COUNTY.

MAY

THE TEMPERATURE WAS 0.5 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL DURING THE MONTH OF MAY
IN NASHVILLE. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 87 DEGREES ON THE 31ST?AND
THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE WAS 43 DEGREES ON THE 19TH. NASHVILLE HAD ITS
6TH WETTEST MAY ON RECORD WITH 8.45 INCHES OF RAIN WHICH IS 3.38
INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

MAY 2009 WAS THE WETTEST SINCE 2003. THE WETTEST MAY ON RECORD WAS IN
1983 WHEN 11.04 INCHES FELL. A CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD WAS
BROKEN ON MAY 1ST AT NASHVILLE WHEN 2.96 INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 2.35 INCHES SET IN 1902.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING MAY WAS 80 DEGREES ON
THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH WHILE THE COOLEST WAS 39 DEGREES ON THE
18TH AND 19TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 10.76 INCHES WHICH IS 5.28 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF MAY WAS 85
DEGREES ON THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH WHILE THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE
WAS 42 DEGREES ON THE 19TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 8.23 INCHES.

MAY 2009 WAS VERY WET ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE WITH THE FIRST 10 DAYS
ACCUMULATING MOST OF THE MONTHS TOTAL RAINFALL. MANY AREAS RECEIVED
10 TO 12 INCHES FOR THE MONTH?WHILE SOME AREAS RECEIVED BETWEEN 13
AND 15 INCHES. THE GREATEST AMOUNT REPORTED WAS NEAR COLUMBIA IN
MAURY COUNTY WHERE 14.85 INCHES WAS MEASURED. RIVER FLOODING WAS
MINOR TO MODERATE?WITH THE MOST SERIOUS PROBLEMS ALONG THE DUCK
RIVER.

ON THE FIRST DAY OF MAY TWO EF1 TORNADOES STRUCK SOUTHERN MIDDLE
TENNESSEE CAUSING STRUCTURAL DAMAGE?AND A FEW INJURIES IN LEWIS
COUNTY. ANOTHER EF1 TORNADO OCCURRED IN THE CROSSVILLE AREA IN
CUMBERLAND COUNTY ON THE EVENING OF THE 3RD WITH MINOR DAMAGE
REPORTED. ON THE 8TH AND 9TH SOME SEVERE WEATHER WAS REPORTED BUT
THE MAIN STORY WAS FLASH FLOODING IN THE CLARKSVILLE AREA FROM
GOODLETTSVILLE TO GALLATIN. THESE AREAS RECEIVED 3 TO 4 INCHES OF
RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ON THE MORNING OF THE 9TH.


JUNE

NASHVILLE EXPERIENCED A WARM JUNE IN 2009 WITH THE TEMPERATURE
AVERAGING 2.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE DURING
THE MONTH WAS 95 DEGREES ON THE 22ND AND 27TH WHILE THE COOLEST WAS
51 DEGREES ON THE 6TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 4.53 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.45
INCH ABOVE NORMAL. A CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD WAS BROKEN ON THE
11TH WHEN 2.51 INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 2.36
INCHES SET IN 1962.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING JUNE WAS 88 DEGREES ON
THE 20TH AND 21ST AND THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE WAS 51 DEGREES ON THE
6TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 5.01 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE WHICH IS 0.28
INCH ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE WAS
94 DEGREES ON THE 22ND AND THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE WAS 49 DEGREES ON
THE 6TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 2.54 INCHES DURING THE MONTH.

THERE WERE SEVERAL MINOR SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS ACROSS MIDDLE
TENNESSEE DURING JUNE. FLOODING WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE SOUTHERN
PLATEAU ON THE EVENING OF THE 4TH WHEN 2 INCHES OF RAIN FELL ON
ALREADY SATURATED GROUND. WIDESPREAD MINOR WIND DAMAGE OCCURRED OVER
THE EASTERN TWO THIRDS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON THE NIGHT OF THE 11TH.
A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVED THROUGH THE NORTHERN PART OF MIDDLE
TENNESSEE ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE 16TH?CAUSING MINOR WIND DAMAGE. ON
THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH?NIGHTTIME THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE NORTH
CAUSED MINOR WIND DAMAGE WITH ONE INJURY IN SUMNER COUNTY.


JULY

NASHVILLE HAD ITS 4TH COOLEST JULY ON RECORD IN 2009 AND THE COOLEST
SINCE 1967. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 3.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE
WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 92 DEGREES ON THE 15TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 57
DEGREES ON THE 19TH. THERE WERE 3 LOWEST DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE
RECORDS EITHER TIED OR BROKEN DURING THE MONTH. THERE WERE ALSO 3
LOWEST TEMPERATURE RECORDS EITHER TIED OR BROKEN DURING THE MONTH OF
JULY. THERE WERE ONLY 4 DAYS DURING THE MONTH OF JULY IN WHICH THE
TEMPERATURE REACHED OR EXCEEDED THE 90 DEGREE MARK. THIS TIED THE
ALL-TIME RECORD SET IN 1967 FOR THE FEWEST DAYS WITH 90 DEGREES AND
ABOVE DURING THE MONTH OF JULY. RAINFALL DURING JULY AT NASHVILLE
TOTALED 6.03 INCHES WHICH WAS 2.26 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL MAKING IT THE
WETTEST JULY SINCE 1984. THE REASON FOR THE COOLER AND WETTER THAN
NORMAL JULY WAS A PERSISTENT UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OVER THE EASTERN
HALF OF THE UNITED STATES DURING THE MONTH.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING JULY WAS 85 DEGREES ON
THE 25TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 52 DEGREES ON THE 20TH. RAINFALL
TOTALED 6.40 INCHES WHICH IS 1.27 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING JULY WAS 90 DEGREES ON
THE 9TH AND 10TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 53 DEGREES ON THE 19TH AND
20TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 9.63 INCHES.

A ROUND OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS MONTGOMERY COUNTY DURING
THE EARLY EVENING OF JULY 4TH DOWNING TREES IN THE WOODLAWN AREA
WEST OF CLARKSVILLE. AN EF-0 TORNADO DESTROYED A BARN AND DAMAGED A
GRAIN SILO IN EASTERN WARREN COUNTY 7 MILES EAST OF MCMINNVILLE ON
JULY 28TH. THIS WAS THE FIRST TORNADO DOCUMENTED DURING THE MONTH OF
JULY IN WARREN COUNTY. AN EF-1 TORNADO PRODUCED A DAMAGE PATH THAT
WAS 3 MILES LONG AND 100 YARDS WIDE IN NORTHEASTERN SUMNER COUNTY 3
MILES WEST OF WESTMORELAND AROUND 11 PM CDT ON JULY 31ST. AT LEAST A
FEW HUNDRED TREES WERE SNAPPED OFF OR UPROOTED. A FEW HOMES
SUSTAINED VERY LIGHT DAMAGE WITH WINDOWS BLOWN OUT AND SHINGLES
BLOWN OFF. THE LAST TIME A TORNADO STRUCK SUMNER COUNTY IN THE MONTH
OF JULY WAS BACK IN 1950.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE IN GENERAL RECEIVED ABUNDANT RAINFALL DURING THE
MONTH OF JULY WHICH RANGED FROM 6 INCHES AROUND NASHVILLE TO OVER 14
INCHES AT LIVINGSTON TO NEARLY 18 INCHES AT WAYNESBORO.


AUGUST

THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 0.8 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL DURING THE MONTH OF
AUGUST IN NASHVILLE. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 94 DEGREES ON THE
15TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 58 DEGREES ON THE 24TH AND 31ST. RAINFALL
TOTALED 2.14 INCHES WHICH IS 1.14 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 86 DEGREES
ON THE 8TH AND 10TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 54 DEGREES ON THE 31ST.
RAINFALL TOTALED 3.00 INCHES?WHICH IS 1.07 BELOW NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 91
DEGREES ON THE 4TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 54 DEGREES ON THE 31ST.

THERE WERE SEVERAL MINOR SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS ACROSS MIDDLE
TENNESSEE DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST. THUNDERSTORM WIND DAMAGE
OCCURRED OVER THE WESTERN PART OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON THE 5TH?AND
MINOR FLOODING WAS REPORTED IN WAYNE COUNTY DURING THE AFTERNOON OF
THE 17TH.


SEPTEMBER

THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 1.0 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL IN NASHVILLE DURING
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 87 DEGREES ON THE
6TH?7TH AND 8TH?AND THE COOLEST WAS 47 DEGREES ON THE 30TH. RAINFALL
TOTALED 11.08 INCHES WHICH WAS 7.49 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. NASHVILLE
EXPERIENCED ITS 2ND WETTEST SEPTEMBER IN THE 138 YEARS THAT RECORDS
HAVE BEEN KEPT?AND THE WETTEST SEPTEMBER IN THE LAST 30 YEARS. THE
WETTEST SEPTEMBER ON RECORD WAS IN 1979 WHEN 11.44 INCHES OF RAIN
FELL. THE NASHVILLE AIRPORT MEASURED RAIN ON 9 CONSECUTIVE DAYS?WHICH
TIED 1957 FOR THE MOST CONSECUTIVE DAYS WITH RAIN IN THE MONTH OF
SEPTEMBER. THERE WAS ALSO A CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL RECORD SET ON THE
16TH WHEN 2.69 INCHES OF RAIN FELL?BREAKING THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR
THE DATE OF 1.69 INCHES SET IN 1894.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING SEPTEMBER WAS 82 DEGREES
ON THE  8TH AND 25TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 45 DEGREES ON THE 29TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 7.77 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER WHICH IS 3.86
INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING SEPTEMBER WAS 86
DEGREES ON THE 5TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 43 DEGREES ON THE 30TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 4.27 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.

SEPTEMBER RAIN EVENTS PRODUCED FLOODING IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE BUT IT
WAS MOSTLY MINOR. MOST OF THE HEAVY

RAINS FELL FROM THE 15TH THROUGH THE 17TH AND ON THE MORNING OF THE
26TH. OVER 10 INCH AMOUNTS FOR THE MONTH WERE FAIRLY WIDESPREAD FROM
HICKMAN TO DAVIDSON TO WILSON TO PUTNAM COUNTIES AND FROM WAYNE TO
GILES TO MARSHALL COUNTIES. A PUBLIC REPORT FROM COOKEVILLE IN PUTNAM
COUNTY HAD THE HIGHEST RAINFALL TOTAL IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE DURING THE
MONTH OF SEPTEMBER WITH 15.47 INCHES.


OCTOBER

OCTOBER 2009 WAS WET AND COOL IN NASHVILLE. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED
3.0 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS
86 DEGREES ON THE 9TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 33 DEGREES ON THE 19TH.
OCTOBER IS NORMALLY THE DRIEST MONTH IN NASHVILLE BUT IN 2009
RAINFALL TOTALED 6.49 INCHES FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 3.62 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL?MAKING OCTOBER 2009 THE THE 5TH WETTEST OCTOBER ON
RECORD AND THE WETTEST IN 80 YEARS.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER WAS
80 DEGREES ON THE 9TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 29 DEGREES ON THE 19TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 5.83 INCHES WHICH WAS 2.59 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER
WAS 83 DEGREES ON THE 8TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 32 DEGREES ON THE
18TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 9.71 INCHES FOR THE MONTH.

THE ONLY SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENT WAS ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE
9TH. THERE WERE SCATTERED REPORTS OF SEVERE WEATHER WITH THE NORTH
CENTRAL SECTIONS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE TAKING THE BRUNT. THERE WAS ONE

INJURY FROM AN EF-1 TORNADO ALONG THE DAVIDSON AND ROBERTSON COUNTY
LINE NEAR RIDGETOP. IT WAS THE FIRST TORNADO EVER RECORDED IN EITHER
DAVIDSON OR ROBERTSON COUNTY DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER.


NOVEMBER

2.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 74 DEGREES ON
THE 7TH AND 8TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 29 DEGREES ON THE 27TH. THE 29
DEGREE READING ON THE 27TH TIED THE DATE FOR THE LATEST FIRST FREEZE
IN NASHVILLE?THAT WAS FIRST SET BACK IN 1902. RAINFALL TOTALED ONLY
0.67 INCH FOR THE MONTH MAKING NOVEMBER 2009 THE 3RD DRIEST ON RECORD
AND THE DRIEST SINCE 1949. THE 3RD DRIEST NOVEMBER CAME ON THE HEELS
OF THE WETTEST COMBINED TWO MONTH PERIOD OF SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER
2009 ON RECORD.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 74 DEGREES
ON THE 8TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 28 DEGREES ON THE 28TH. RAINFALL
TOTALED 1.67 INCHES WHICH WAS 3.56 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 75
DEGREES ON THE 7TH AND 8TH AND THE COOLEST WAS 28 DEGREES ON THE
27TH AND 30TH. RAINFALL TOTALED 1.16 INCHES DURING THE MONTH OF
NOVEMBER.

DECEMBER

DECEMBER 2009 IN NASHVILLE  WAS COOLER THAN NORMAL AND SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL IN RAINFALL. THE TEMPERATURE AVERAGED 1.2 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 66 DEGREES ON THE 14TH...AND THE
COOLEST WAS 15 DEGREES ON THE 11TH.  RAINFALL TOTALED 3.99 INCHES FOR
THE MONTH WHICH WAS 0.55 INCH BELOW NORMAL. THERE WAS A TRACE OF SNOW
ON THE 20TH AND AGAIN ON THE 27TH. WINDS GUSTED TO 52 MPH AT
NASHVILLE ON DECEMBER 24TH.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CROSSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 63
DEGREES ON THE 14TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 14 DEGREES ON THE 11TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 6.28 INCHES WHICH WAS 1.29 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE AT CLARKSVILLE DURING THE MONTH WAS 65
DEGREES IN THE 14TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 17 DEGREES ON THE 11TH.
RAINFALL TOTALED 2.62 INCHES DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.

A LIGHT SNOW EVENT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 5TH WHEN 1 TO 3 INCHES OF
SNOW FELL ALONG THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU WITH 1/2 TO 1 INCH ACROSS
EASTERN AREAS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE. MURFREESBORO MEASURED 1 INCH
WHILE NASHVILLE FAILED TO GET EVEN A TRACE OF SNOW. ANOTHER LIGHT
SNOWFALL EVENT OCCURRED IN EASTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE AND ALONG THE
CUMBERLAND PLATEAU ON THE 18TH AND 19TH. ISOLATED 2 TO 3 INCH SNOW
AMOUNTS WERE REPORTED IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY.

DECEMBER HAD THE FIRST "BLUE MOON" SINCE MAY OF 2007.
