...FALL SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS DAY IS TODAY...

TODAY IS FALL SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS DAY IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
SEVERE WEATHER INCLUDING TORNADOES CAN HAPPEN ANY TIME OF THE YEAR
AT ANY HOUR OF THE DAY. HISTORICALLY...HOWEVER....THERE ARE TWO
MAIN SEASONS FOR SEVERE WEATHER IN THE MID-STATE...SPRING AND FALL.

TODAY HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS THE DAY TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF THE FALL
TORNADO AND SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. NOVEMBER IS THE MONTH WHICH
BRINGS THE GREATEST CHANCE FOR TORNADOES...BUT THE THREAT
CONTINUES RIGHT INTO AND THROUGH THE WINTER SEASON.

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SIGNIFICANT TORNADO OUTBREAKS DURING NOVEMBER
ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE...MOST RECENTLY ON NOVEMBER 15 2005 WHEN
19 TORNADOES STRUCK. A MORE SIGNIFICANT OUTBREAK ON NOVEMBER 10TH
2002 CLAIMED 8 LIVES AND CAUSED 51 INJURIES ACROSS THE MID STATE.
