...FROST/FREEZE PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE FALL 2009...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NASHVILLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
TIMELY ISSUANCES OF FREEZE WATCHES AND WARNINGS AS WELL AS FROST
ADVISORIES FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THESE PRODUCTS ARE ISSUED DURING
THE GROWING SEASON.

THE PROGRAM ENDS IN THE FALL WHEN A HARD FREEZE OCCURS...ENDING
THE GROWING SEASON. A HARD FREEZE IS WHEN TEMPERATURES FALL TO 27
DEGREES F OR LESS.

AN UPDATE TO THE PROGRAM FOR FALL 2009...

1). A HARD FREEZE HAS OCCURRED IN THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU REGION OF
CLAY...CUMBERLAND...GRUNDY...FENTRESS...JACKSON...OVERTON...PICKETT...
PUTNAM...VAN BUREN AND WHITE COUNTIES. FREEZE WATCHES...FREEZE WARNINGS
AND FROST ADVISORIES WILL NO LONGER BE ISSUED UNTIL SPRING 2010,
IF APPLICABLE.

2). WEST OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU REGION...ACROSS MOST OF MIDDLE
TENNESSEE...A HARD FREEZE HAS NOT OCCURRED. FORECASTERS WILL
CONTINUE TO ISSUE FREEZE WATCHES AND WARNINGS WHEN TEMPERATURES
ARE EXPECTED TO BE 32 DEGREES F OR LESS...UNTIL A HARD FREEZE
OCCURS.
