...ANOTHER WET AUTUMN MONTH...AND COOL AS WELL...

OCTOBER IS NORMALLY A NICE MONTH IN NASHVILLE WITH PLENTY OF CLEAR
SKIES. HOWEVER...OCTOBER OF 2009 WILL GO DOWN AS THE FIFTH WETTEST
AT THE AIRPORT...AND THE WETTEST OCTOBER IN 80 YEARS. THE TOTAL
RAINFALL WAS 6.49 INCHES...WHICH IS 3.62 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 56.9 DEGREES...WHICH IS 3 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WAS 86 ON THE 9TH...AND THE COOLEST
WAS 33 DEGREES ON THE 19TH.

THE ONLY WEATHER EVENT OF SIGNIFICANCE WAS ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE
9TH. THERE WERE SCATTERED REPORTS OF SEVERE WEATHER...WITH NORTH
CENTRAL SECTIONS OF THE MID STATE TAKING THE BRUNT. THERE WAS AN
INJURY FROM AN EF-1 TORNADO ALONG THE DAVIDSON/ROBERTSON COUNTY LINE
NEAR RIDGETOP. IT WAS THE FIRST EVER OCTOBER TORNADO REPORTED IN
EITHER COUNTY.

CROSSVILLE AVERAGED 54.8 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH...1.4 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 80 DEGREES ON THE 9TH...WHILE
THE COLDEST WAS 29 ON THE 19TH. TOTAL RAINFALL WAS 5.83
INCHES...WHICH IS 2.59 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.

CLARKSVILLE AVERAGED 55.3 DEGREES FOR THE MONTH AND TABULATED AN
AMAZING 9.71 INCHES OF RAINFALL. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WAS 83
DEGREES ON THE 8TH...AND THE COLDEST WAS 32 ON THE 18TH.
