SOME OF THE HOTTEST DAYS OF THE YEAR SO FAR ARE EXPECTED AGAIN
TODAY. TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE LOWER TO MID 90S ACROSS
MUCH OF THE MID STATE...WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND
105.

THE FORECAST HIGH FOR TODAY IN NASHVILLE IS ABOUT 95 DEGREES. THE
NORMAL HIGH IS 86...AND THE RECORD HIGH IS 100 DEGREES. AT
CROSSVILLE...WE EXPECT A HIGH AROUND 87...WHICH WOULD STILL BE A
FEW DEGREES BELOW THE RECORD HIGH OF 94 SET IN 1988.
THE NORMAL HIGH FOR CROSSVILLE IS 82.

YESTERDAY THE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN NASHVILLE WAS 94...SO
TEMPERATURES IN NASHVILLE STILL LAST HIT 95 DEGREES ON AUGUST
20TH IN 2008. IT HAS BEEN A WHILE...SO IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO REVIEW
SOME HEAT SAFETY RULES.

THE ELDERLY...SMALL CHILDREN AND PEOPLE WITH CERTAIN HEALTH
CONCERNS ARE MOST AT RISK DURING HOT WEATHER.

STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE REDUCED OR RESCHEDULED FOR THE
COOLER PARTS OF THE DAY.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND LIGHT COLORED CLOTHING IS BEST.

DRINK PLENTY OF NON ALCOHOLIC FLUIDS.

AVOID PROLONGED SUN EXPOSURE AND SUNBURN.

STAY IN AIR CONDITIONED PLACES IF POSSIBLE.

THIS WARM WEATHER ARRIVED RIGHT ON TIME. THE OFFICIAL START OF THE
SUMMER SEASON WAS AT 1246 AM CDT THIS MORNING.
