AREAS AFFECTED...WRN CAROLINAS

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 466...

VALID 182025Z - 182130Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 466
CONTINUES.

DESPITE THE CONTINUED PRESENCE OF A FAIRLY STRONG COLD POOL
/TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S OVER ERN TN AT
20Z/...APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS OF WRN NC APPEAR TO HAVE DISRUPTED MCS
ORGANIZATION. THIS MAY HINDER A MORE WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER
THREAT FOR WW 466. HOWEVER...ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IS
OCCURRING AHEAD OF THE MCS...WITHIN A MODERATELY UNSTABLE
ENVIRONMENT AND SUFFICIENT DEEP LAYER VERTICAL WIND SHEAR FOR
ORGANIZED MULTICELLS. IF REGENERATION OF NEW UPDRAFTS CAN OCCUR
ALONG GUST FRONT MOVING ACROSS THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS...THEN
REINTENSIFICATION OF MCS IS POSSIBLE AS IT ENCOUNTERS STRONGER
INSTABILITY OVER THE CAROLINAS. OTHERWISE...STRONG DOWNBURST WINDS
AND PERHAPS LARGE HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE
AFTERNOON WITH DISCRETE STORM DEVELOPMENT OCCURRING ALONG THE LEE OF
THE MOUNTAIN CHAIN.
