CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEGUN TO FORM ON HIGHER TERRAIN OF WESTERN NC
INTO NORTH GA.  ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS ARE EXPECTED.  THIS AREA WILL
BE MONITORED FOR POSSIBLE WW.

VISIBLE SATELLITE AND RADAR DATA SUGGEST SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
HAVE BEGUN TO FORM OVER THE MOUNTAINS OF WESTERN NC INTO NORTHEAST
GA.  TEMPERATURES IN THIS REGION HAVE WARMED INTO THE UPPER
80S...YIELDING STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND MLCAPE VALUES OVER
1500 J/KG.  FORECAST SOUNDINGS IN THIS REGION SHOW RATHER COOL MID
LEVEL TEMPERATURES AS WELL /-9 AT 500MB/ AND SUFFICIENT DEEP LAYER
VERTICAL SHEAR FOR SOME CONVECTIVE ORGANIZATION.  MULTICELL CLUSTERS
ARE LIKELY TO EVOLVE THIS AFTERNOON...SPREADING SOUTHEASTWARD INTO
PARTS OF SC/GA.  INITIAL STORMS WILL POSE A THREAT OF HAIL AND GUSTY
WINDS.  HOWEVER...IF SUFFICIENT NUMBERS OF STORMS CAN BECOME
ESTABLISHED...SOME POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR A MORE ORGANIZED WIND DAMAGE
THREAT LATER THIS AFTERNOON.  THIS REGION WILL BE MONITORED FOR
