...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT OVER THE EAST HALF OF THE MID
STATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...

...YOU CAN EXPECT HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS PORTIONS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE
TODAY THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY...

THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FAY WILL CONTINUE SPREADING
ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE TODAY AND TONIGHT...BRINGING LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL.

THE DRY WEATHER OF THE LAST FEW WEEKS IS NOW A THING OF THE PAST.
THANKS TO FAY...THE ATMOSPHERE IS NOW CHOCKED FULL OF MOISTURE...AND
WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING...ESPECIALLY
OVER EASTERN AREAS...WHERE A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

RAIN TOTALS...BY THE TIME THE STORM PASSES ON WEDNESDAY...ARE
EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM LESS THAN AN INCH ACROSS THE FAR NORTHWEST
... TO AS MUCH AS FIVE INCHES OR MORE OVER EASTERN AREAS. SOME
LOCALIZED SPOTS...IN MAURY...SMITH...AND MACON COUNTIES REPORTED
THREE TO FIVE INCHES OF RAINFALL YESTERDAY. DOPPLER RADAR
INDICATES AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES WERE COMMON OVER MUCH OF
THE REMAINDER OF EASTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

THE RAINFALL WILL PROVIDE SOME WELCOME RELIEF TO DROUGHT
CONDITIONS THAT HAVE IMPACTED MUCH OF THE AREA. HOWEVER...HEAVY
RAINFALL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME CAN CAUSE FLOODING...ESPECIALLY
IN URBAN AREAS AND ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS.

PEOPLE ARE URGED TO KEEP ABREAST OF THE LATEST FORECASTS AND
STATEMENTS...WHICH WILL CONTAIN MORE DETAILS ON WHERE AND WHEN THE
HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL OCCUR...ALONG WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING.
AGAIN...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE EASTERN
HALF OF THE MID STATE THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.
