...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
MORNING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* A PORTION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
  AREAS...BEDFORD...CANNON...CLAY...COFFEE...CUMBERLAND...
  DEKALB...FENTRESS...GILES...GRUNDY...JACKSON...MACON...
  MARSHALL...OVERTON...PICKETT...PUTNAM...RUTHERFORD...SMITH...
  TROUSDALE...VAN BUREN...WARREN...WHITE AND WILSON.

* THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING

* THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FAY WILL CONTINUE SPREADING
ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE TODAY AND TONIGHT...BRINGING LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL...ESPECIALLY TO EASTERN AREAS...INCLUDING THE
CUMBERLAND PLATEAU. RAIN AMOUNTS UP TO FIVE INCHES ARE POSSIBLE
IN THE WATCH AREA. A FEW SPOTS COULD SEE EVEN MORE. DOPPLER
RADAR INDICATES THAT RAIN TOTALS BETWEEN ONE AND TWO INCHES HAVE
BEEN COMMON OVER EASTERN AREAS...SINCE THE RAIN BEGAN YESTERDAY.
ISOLATED AMOUNTS OVER 3 INCHES WERE ALSO INDICATED. ADDITIONAL
HEAVY RAINS...TODAY AND TONIGHT...WILL PRODUCE RAPID RUN
OFF...AND INCREASE THE POSSIBILITY FOR FLASH FLOODING IN THE
  WATCH AREA.

THE LOW PRESSURE CENTER WAS LOCATED JUST NORTH OF TUSCALOOSA
ALABAMA EARLY TODAY...AND IS FORECAST TO MOVE NORTHEASTWARD
...ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE...TONIGHT. HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BEGIN
TO TAPER OFF LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY WEDNESDAY.

* WITH RAINFALL TOTALS AS HIGH AS 5 INCHES... WE EXPECT SOME
STREAMS AND CREEKS TO RISE TO NEAR OR ABOVE BANK FULL TODAY AND
TONIGHT. LOW AREAS...AND URBAN AREAS...WILL BE MOST LIKELY TO
  FLOOD...ESPECIALLY DURING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS...THAT WILL
CONCENTRATE RAINFALL IN RELATIVELY SMALL AREAS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THOSE ALONG STREAM AND CREEKS SHOULD MONITOR FOR RAPID RISES AND
TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION. YOU SHOULD ALSO MONITOR LATER FORECASTS
AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE
ISSUED.
